  Corporate Name Change Announcement
We are pleased to announce that Apogee Instruments has changed its name to Apogee Imaging Systems. Although a small change to our name and more descriptive of what we do, it represents a significant step in our growth. Our clients will continue to see a company with a focus on innovation, reliability, and customer support. This is an exciting time for all of us here at Apogee, but we are mindful that our excitement for our future and pride in our accomplishment is derived only from the satisfaction of our customers.

Since 1993, Apogee Imaging Systems has been supplying cooled CCD cameras to many disciplines within the scientific community and are currently used in over 50 countries. Apogee cameras have orbited the earth on past missions and will once again attain orbit in June of 2012.

We appreciate your business and look forward to the most prosperous year in our history!

Wayne Brown, President
Apogee Imaging Systems

April 2009 200th Discovery
Puckett Observatory Supernovae Search team makes its 200th discovery. Congratulations to our astronomy sales manager, Tim Puckett, and all the volunteers who have contributed to this remarkable accomplishment.

March 2009 First Alta® U3041 camera shipped!
The U3041 uses a back-illuminated Fairchild 2048 x 2048 with 15 micron pixels. Available with either a broadband or UV coating, the Fairchild CCD offers extraordinarily high quantum efficiency with very low readout noise.

First High Cooling D09 housings shipped!
Apogee's new high cooling D09 housings push our maximum cooling to as much as 75C below ambient. This optional housing is offered for many cameras, including the U3041, U42, U42-UV, U230, U16M, U16, U9000, U16000, U47, U30, U77, U9, U6, and U8300, as well as the spectroscopic format U1109, U1107, U1109, U30, and U30-OE.

February 2009 First Alta U16000 camera shipped!
The U16000 joins Apogee's long legacy of 16 megapixel cameras, dating all the way back to the first AP16 camera shipped in the spring of 2001. The Alta U16 arrived in 2003, and the U16M in 2006. The U16000 uses Kodak's KAI-16000 interline CCD. The array is 4872 x 3248 with 7.4 micron pixels (36 x 24 mm, the same size as 35mm film). The CCD has electronic shuttering down to 1 millisecond and anti-blooming.

January 2009 Congratulations, Apogee Team
2008 was another record breaking year!

December 2008 First Alta U8300 cameras shipped!
The U8300 uses a Kodak KAF-8300, which is 3326 x 2504 with 5.4 micron pixels. The small pixels are ideal for astrophotography using telescopes with shorter focal lengths.

October 2008 Graham Taft joins Apogee Team
Apogee welcomes Graham Taft to our mechanical engineering staff. Graham is a graduate of California State University Sacramento.

November 2007 First Apogee Filter Wheels shipped!
The filter wheels support a choice of two carousels: 7 positions for 50mm square filters, or 9 positions for 50mm round filters. The filter wheels lock into position for each filter. Like the Alta cameras, the Apogee filter wheels communicate via USB2.
