Alta U16M Grade S (4096 x 4096 9µ)
The U16M is a 16 Million pixel imager. At 9u pixel size with a 4096 x 4096 array, the U16M has a field of view which until recently was simply not available at this price for high performance astronomy applications. The enormous field of view and sensitivity of this camera has made this the camera of choice for astro-photographers.

Alta U9000 Grade S (3056 x 3056 12µ)
The U9000 is the same CCD area as the U16M, but with 12u pixels instead of 9u. How to choose? Choose the largest pixel which meets your needs for sampling with your optical system. Over-sampling (choosing pixels too small for your system) has the effect of reducing your apparent sensitivity, because the light is spread over more pixels.

Alta U2000 & U2000C & Alta E2000 & E2000C Grade S (1600 x 1200 7.4µ)
The U2000 has a 1600 x 1200 interline transfer CCD with 7.4 micron pixels, ideal for microscopy or applications requiring fast shutter times. Because of the larger array and somewhat larger pixels, this CCD offers twice the field of view and twice the dynamic range of other popular interline CCDs.

Alta U6 & Alta E6 Grade 2 (1024 x 1024 24µ)
The U6's large pixels (24 microns) offer exceptionally high dynamic range (500K electron full well capacity). With 1024 x 1024 pixels, the imager is almost an inch on each side, with a diagonal over 35mm. This CCD features a choice between two output amplifers: one for low noise, and one for very high dynamic range (chosen when the camera is ordered).

Alta U4000 & U4000C & Alta E4000 & E4000C Grade S (2048 x 2048 7.4µ)
With its large 2048 x 2048 format and 7.4 micron pixels, the U4000 is the equivalent of a 1.34" video format, duplicating the optical field of view of most microscopes without the need for field reducers. Like the U2000, the U4000 has exceptional dynamic range, and is very popular with OEMs.
